The Los Angeles Angels are reportedly set to get back a big piece of their lineup next week.

Reports indicate that Anthony Rendon will be activated next week as he has ramped up his rehab. He's been out with a groin injury.

Jeff Fletcher of the Orange County Register tweeted the following on Thursday night:

Anthony Rendon ran the bases and now he's about to take batting practice on the field. He had not done either of those things previously in his rehab from a groin injury. It's looking like he'll be activated next week. #Angels

Injuries have unfortunately been part of the story for Rendon since getting to Los Angeles. Signed to a seven-year deal before the 2020 season, he's never played more than 58 games in a season with the Angels (he did play 52 in the 60-game season in 2020).

He was out to a promising start this year for the Halos, so his return to a lineup with Mike Trout and Shohei Ohtani should be a welcome development. He's hitting .301 with a homer and 20 RBI through 30 games this season.

The Angels are currently 30-27 and in third place in the American League West.

Entering play on Thursday, they trail the second-place Astros by three games and the first-place Rangers by six games.

They open up a big series with the Astros on Thursday with the first pitch being slated for 8:10 p.m. ET.

Reid Detmers will get the ball for the Angels against Ronel Blanco.
