The Minnesota Twins beat the Cincinnati Reds on Wednesday afternoon 5-3 but they did it with some worrisome news on the injury front.

Shortstop Carlos Correa was placed on the injured list with a foot issue while young slugger Royce Lewis is going to be getting an MRI when the team returns home on his hamstring.

Per Dan Hayes of 'The Athletic.'

Belief is Carlos Correa will return at Colorado during final series of regular season. Royce Lewis will have a MRI after #MNTwins return home. Still very much TBD.

Lewis, the former top prospect in the organization, has battled injury for the last few years but the 24-year-old has made a big impact when healthy this year. He's hitting .309 with 15 homers and 52 RBI while posting a .921 OPS.

As the Twins close in on an American League Central crown, they certainly will want Lewis and his bat for the playoffs, but a lot of that will hinge on the results of his MRI.

As for Correa, he's in his second year with the Twins and has been battling this foot issue all season.

A lifetime .272 hitter, Correa has 173 home runs. He's in his ninth MLB season with the Twins and Astros. He helped Houston win the 2017 World Series.

He's hitting just .230 this year with 18 home runs and 65 RBI.

The Twins will be off on Thursday but will return home on Friday when they host the Los Angeles Angels.

Minnesota is now 81-72 on the season.
