According to the Philadelphia Phillies, starting outfielder Brandon Marsh will be out for 3-4 weeks after undergoing knee surgery. He's expected to still be ready for Opening Day.

Per the team on social media:

Phillies OF Brandon Marsh underwent successful left knee arthroscopic debridement surgery with Dr. Steven Cohen in Philadelphia this morning. It is anticipated that he will return to playing at 3 to 4 weeks and be ready to play by opening day.

The 26-year-old Marsh has become an integral part of the Phillies roster over the last few years, helping the team get to the World Series in 2022 and the NLCS in 2023.

He played in 133 games last season, hitting .277 with 12 homers, 60 RBI and 10 stolen bases.

Marsh made his major league debut in 2021 with the Los Angeles Angels and was traded to Philadelphia during the 2022 season. Lifetime, he's a .259 hitter with 25 homers and 26 stolen bases. He also plays excellent defense and figures to start for Philly in the corners.

As they have been the last several years, the Phillies figure to be prime contenders in the National League this season. Though the Atlanta Braves and Los Angeles Dodgers made significant moves this season, Philadelphia still has Bryce Harper, Trea Turner, Nick Castellanos, Aaron Nola and Zack Wheeler to boast, not to mention catcher JT Realmuto.

The Phillies finished second in the National League East in 2023 but beat the Braves in the National League Division Series before falling in the NLCS in seven games.
