The Seattle Mariners got star reliever Andres Munoz back from injury on Tuesday and got more good news on Friday, as they've activated reliever Penn Murfee ahead of a matchup with the Los Angeles Angels.

The Mariners PR account put the information out on Twitter:

Mariners roster moves:

Penn Murfee, RHP, reinstated from 15-day IL.

Matt Festa, RHP, optioned to Triple-A Tacoma.

Before landing on the injured list, Murfee was 1-2 with a 1.38 ERA in 15 games. He has struck out 15 batters in 13.0 innings.

The 27-year-old was a major key out of the Mariners bullpen in 2022, pitching in 64 games. He went 4-0 with a 2.99 ERA in that season which saw the Mariners get to the playoffs for the first time since the 2001 season.

As for Festa, he was also integral to the Mariners success in 2022, but it hasn't translated for him this year.

In just six games, he's got a 5.40 ERA. He's spent most of the year in Triple-A. He pitched in 53 games a year ago.

The Mariners enter play on Friday at a disappointing 30-31 overall. They are in fourth place in the American League West and are currently 5.0 games out of a wild card berth.

They will play against the division-rival Angels on Friday night at 9:38 p.m. ET. It's a battle of aces as Luis Castillo pitches against Shohei Ohtani.

Castillo is 4-3 with a 2.55 ERA while Ohtani is 5-2 with a 3.30 ERA. He's already beaten the Mariners once this year.
