Seattle Mariners and Kansas City Royals Complete Minor Trade on Tuesday

In this story:
One day after making a big trade with the Minnesota Twins to acquire veteran Jorge Polanco, the Seattle Mariners have made a smaller deal with the Kansas City Royals.
The M's announced they have traded for utility player Samad Taylor. In exchange, they are giving up a Player to Be Named Later or cash considerations.
Welcome to Seattle, Samad!

In getting Taylor, the M's are getting a 25-year-old California native who made his major league debut in 2023. He has the ability to play second base, center field or left field and hit .200 last season over 60 at-bats for the Royals. He is a definite athlete, having swiped eight bases as well.
He also made some really fun history in his major league debut last June.
There's no telling if he'll make the Opening Day roster for Seattle, but his athleticism gives him a chance. The M's figure to have Ty France, JP Crawford, Polanco, Josh Rojas and Luis Urias as infielders while also having Dylan Moore as a utility player. Taylor would seem to fit in the Sam Haggerty category - depth who can be called upon if there are injuries.
The motivation behind this move for Kansas City? It opens up a roster spot on the 40-man roster so the team can officially sign infielder Adam Frazier, who they agreed to a deal with over the weekend.
Kansas City finished last in the American League Central a season ago and Seattle finished third in the American League West at 88-74.
Both teams missed the playoffs.
