Ketel Marte Wins Free Tacos For America in Annual Taco Bell World Series Promotion

Arizona Diamondbacks star Ketel Marte clinched free Doritos Locos Tacos for the entire country as part of Taco Bell's signature "Steal a Base, Steal a Taco" World Series stunt.

Thanks to Ketel Marte's speed on the basepaths, America has been rewarded with free tacos.

The Arizona Diamondbacks second baseman stole second base in the third inning of Game 1 of the World Series against the Texas Rangers on Friday night. Per usual, Taco Bell will now give away a free Doritos Locos Taco to every eligible fan between now and Nov. 6.

Taco Bell has been running the "Steal a Base, Steal a Taco" promotion in the World Series since 2007. The taco-clinching steal occurred in Game 1 of every series since 2018, and that streak continued Friday night in Arlington.

Marte stole eight bases in 10 tries this regular season, and he ranked second among Diamondbacks position players in hits, OPS and WAR. He was 1-for-1 on stolen base attempts in the NLDS and 1-for-1 in the NLCS.

For his career, Marte is 54-for-70.

Past taco thieves include unexpected heroes, such as Philadelphia Phillies designated hitter Kyle Schwarber in 2022, as well as notorious speedsters, like Boston Red Sox outfielder Jacoby Ellsbury in 2007.

The free Doritos Locos Taco can be redeemed by any fan with a Taco Bell Rewards Program account, which can be opened for free. Fans who correctly predicted that Marte would steal the first base of the 2023 World Series will also be able to cash in on a free medium fountain drink.

Full details on the promotion can be found on Taco Bell's website.

The Diamondbacks currently lead the Rangers 3-2 in the third inning.
