Chicago White Sox Acquire Three Minor Leaguers For Lance Lynn, Joe Kelly

The Chicago White Sox have acquired three minor league players from the Los Angeles Dodgers for pitchers Lance Lynn and Joe Kelly.

The Chicago White Sox, who enter play on Friday at 41-63 overall and in fourth place in the American League Central, have acquired a trio of minor leaguers for pitchers Lance Lynn and Joe Kelly.

We heard on Thursday that the Tampa Bay Rays had interest in Lynn, but the Dodgers end up with the best offer for Chicago here.

Jeff Passan of ESPN tweeted the deal and the Sox return:

Full trade, per ESPN sources:

Los Angeles Dodgers receive: RH starter Lance Lynn and RH reliever Joe Kelly

Chicago White Sox receive: RH starter Nick Nastrini (in Double-A), RH reliever Jordan Leasure (Double-A) and OF Trayce Thompson, who was originally drafted by Chicago.

Lynn has had a difficult year for the underwhelming White Sox, going 6-9 with a 6.47 ERA. That said, he's shown durability, making 21 starts, and he's still shown the ability to strike batters out. The 36-year-old has 144 strikeouts in just 119.2 innings this year.

He's in his 12th year in the big leagues with the Cardinals, Twins, Yankees, Rangers and White Sox.

Lifetime, he owns a 129-93 record. He also brings playoff experience to Los Angeles, having pitched in the playoffs in seven different seasons. He won a World Series with the 2011 Cardinals.

As for Kelly, he's 1-5 with a 4.97 ERA. He's in his 12th year with the Cardinals, Red Sox, Dodgers and White Sox.

Passan tweeted more about the White Sox side of this deal:

Nick Nastrini is the big prize here. Strapping righty with four good pitches and has thrived in the Dodgers' player-development machine. Leasure has monster strikeout numbers at AA this year and could move fast.

Nastrini was the Dodgers No. 9 prospect, per MLB.com.
