After firing Chaim Bloom in September, the Boston Red Sox are in the market for a new General Manger and/or Head of Baseball Operations.

Reports have indicated that the team is "down the line" with former pitcher and current Cubs front office member Craig Breslow, and reports are also out that former Miami Marlins GM Kim Ng may not be a match.

Per Chris Cotillo of MassLive:

FWIW: Two sources in the last 24 hours threw cold water on the idea of Kim Ng joining the Red Sox. Unclear what Ng’s plans are for 2024.

Ng stepped aside from Miami this week because of reported philosophical differences with ownership. She was immediately linked to the Red Sox opening but it appears that may not be the case.

Ng has been linked to the Mets as well, where she'd likely serve behind new department head David Stearns.

The Marlins made the playoffs this year under Ng, capturing a wild card in the National League before being swept by the Philadelphia Phillies. They won 84 games and are generally regarded as an organization on the rise. They also made the playoffs during the COVID 2020 season.

As for the Red Sox, they finished last in 2023 in the American League East. Despite that, they do have some good things to be excited about. First baseman Triston Casas looks like a pillar for the future, as does pitcher Brayan Bello. Jarren Duran also made strides this year and Trevor Story should be healthy in 2024 after missing more than half the year with an elbow injury.
