Here's What Pittsburgh Pirates' Legend Andrew McCutchen Had to Say After Hitting 300th Home Run

This past weekend, Pittsburgh Pirates' legend Andrew McCutchen hit his 300th career home run. On Wednesday, he joined MLB Network to discuss the accomplishment.

Pittsburgh Pirates' legend Andrew McCutchen joined the 300-home run club this past Sunday, and on Wednesday morning, he joined the MLB Network crew to discuss the accomplishment.

"Cutch" said that he was happy to hit the milestone but also added that he was relieved that it was over with.

"I was happy I could get it out of the way. If I couldn't do it in Pittsburgh, nice to be able to do it in Philly."

That makes sense, given that McCutchen also has played for the Phillies in his career. The 16-year veteran has spent 11 years with the Pirates, and also spent three with the Phillies, one with the Brewers and part of one each with the Yankees and Giants.

In a comical moment on MLB Network, McCutchen also referenced his first Major League home run, which came at the now-defunct Metrodome. He said almost no one in his current clubhouse would know what that was.

One of the most popular Pirates' player of the Modern Era, McCutchen is a lifetime .275 hitter with the 300 homers and 1,050 RBI. He's also stolen 217 bases.

McCutchen is a five-time All-Star, a four-time Silver Slugger, an MVP and a Gold Glove winner. His return to Pittsburgh was one of the best stories of the 2023 season and his accomplishment here is one of the best stories of the first month of the season too.

The Pirates are currently 11-7 this year and will take on the New York Mets on Wednesday afternoon.

Lefty Bailey Falter pitches for the Buccos while lefty Jose Quintana gets the ball for New York.
