Minnesota Twins Sign Former Padres, Brewers Prospect Caleb Boushley to Minor League Deal

In this story:
The Minnesota Twins signed right-handed pitcher Caleb Boushley to a minor league contract on Thursday, according to his MLB.com transaction log.
Boushley was assigned to the Triple-A St. Paul Saints on Friday. It remains to be seen if he will earn a non-roster invitation to the Twins' Spring Training activities in Florida.
The 30-year-old spent five years in the San Diego Padres' minor league system before finally making his MLB debut with the Milwaukee Brewers in 2023.

MLB Pipeline never had Boushley ranked on their year-end list of the Padres' Top 30 prospects, but he did produce solid stat lines when he was working his way through the club's farm system.
After going 2-2 with a 5.83 ERA and 1.488 WHIP in his first taste of professional ball in 2017, Boushley went 6-4 with a 2.71 ERA and 1.027 WHIP in 2018. In 2019, Boushley went 5-4 with a 3.61 ERA and 1.251 WHIP.
Boushley, like every other minor leaguer, had 2020 off due to COVID-19, and he struggled to bounce back in 2021 with a 5-11 record, 5.21 ERA and 1.470 WHIP. That December, the Brewers claimed him off waivers from the Padres.
In a full season of Triple-A action in 2022, Boushley went 12-2 with a 3.32 ERA and 1.170 WHIP.
Boushley was unable to put up the same numbers in 2023, going 9-8 with a 5.11 ERA and 1.378 WHIP, but he did manage to earn a call-up to the majors in late September. In his lone MLB outing, Boushley allowed one earned run and tallied five strikeouts across 2.1 innings of work, closing out an extra-inning victory for Milwaukee.
