MLB Insider Says One Team is Looking at a Possible Trade For Former MVP, Cy Young Winner

In this story:
The San Francisco Giants have won seven of their last 10 games to vault themselves into a tie for the top spot in the National League wild card race.
As a result, the 54-44 Giants are preparing to buy at the trade deadline, and could be willing to make a big time splash for the stretch run.
MLB Network Insider Jon Morosi posted on Twitter:
"Sources: The Giants are among the teams evaluating Justin Verlander as a trade deadline candidate, should he become willing to waive his no-trade clause."

That would be a massive move for the Giants, who could also have designs of catching the Dodgers in the National League West, where they trail them by 3.0 games.
Verlander would be a nice complement to Logan Webb and All-Star Alex Cobb. After battling injury earlier in the season, Verlander is 4-5 for the underwhelming Mets. He's got a 3.47 ERA and a 1.16 WHIP. Usually one of the best strikeout artists in the game, he's only fanned 70 batters in 83.0 innings this year.
Lifetime, he's one of the best pitchers in modern baseball history. He owns a 248-138 career record and a stellar 3.25 ERA. He's amassed 3,268 strikeouts and has a laundry list of accomplishments including:
-Being a nine-time All-Star
-A three-time Cy Young award winner
-A two-time World Series champion
-A Rookie of the Year award winner
-An MVP award winner
The Mets haven't made a decision to sell and Verlander hasn't made a decision on his no-trade clause yet, but New York is currently 45-51.
