New York Yankees Star Aaron Judge Dominates the Baltimore Orioles in a Way That Almost No One Dominates

Aaron Judge owns the Baltimore Orioles over his career.

The New York Yankees beat the Baltimore Orioles on Saturday night by a score of 8-3.

In the win, the Yankees got three home runs, including one from slugger Aaron Judge. It was the first home run since coming off the injured list for Judge, who won the MVP in 2022, and it also continued his career-long dominance over the Baltimore Orioles.

Per ESPN Stats & Info:

Aaron Judge's 3rd inning HR tonight in the Yankees-Orioles game was the 39th career HR vs the O's since his MLB debut in 2016.

The only player with more HR vs a single opponent since 2016 is Mike Trout (40 vs Mariners).

Now this all kind of makes sense, doesn't it? Since 2016, Aaron Judge has been very good. Since 2016, the Orioles mostly have not been very good. And with the unbalanced schedule that's existed in baseball, you get a chance to see your divisional opponents more, therefore have more of a chance to make an impact against them. But it's still impressive the kind of relentless approach that Judge has against the Birds.

The hope is that with Judge back in the fold, the Yankees can get back into the playoff mix.

New York is currently 55-49 and 3.5 games back of the third and final wild card spot in the American League.

Judge is hitting .298 this year with a .414 on-base percentage. He's got 20 home runs and 42 RBI.

The Yankees will take on the Orioles again on Sunday as part of 'Sunday Night Baseball.'

First pitch is 7:10 p.m. ET.
