The National League champion Philadelphia Phillies appear to have a plan for how they'll handle first base in the wake of another injury.

After Rhys Hoskins tore his ACL in spring training and is expected to miss the season, Darick Hall has now torn a ligament in his thumb and could miss about two months. The Phillies are on to plan C.

They play to apparently give the first base job to Kody Clemens -- at least against right-handed pitchers, according to manager Rob Thomson. MLBTradeRumors indicates, with the help of Phillies beat reporters, that Alec Bohm will play first base against lefties with Josh Harrison or Edmundo Sosa moving to third base.

Clemens was acquired from the Tigers this offseason with reliever Gregory Soto. He played in 57 big league games with Detroit last season, hitting just .145.

He's the son of seven-time Cy Young winner Roger Clemens. The 26-year-old is a lifetime .251 hitter in the minor leagues. He's a product of the University of Texas and was drafted in the third round of the 2018 draft.

The Phillies situation at first base is a major blow to a team looking to get back to the World Series -- and win it. They are already without superstar Bryce Harper, recovering from Tommy John Surgery, and now are down their top two options at first base.

The Phillies are currently 2-5 on the season and will continue a weekend series with the Reds on Saturday at 4:05 p.m. ET.
