This Picture of Baseball in Small Nation of Bhutan is Going Viral Because It's Awesome

Baseball is growing rapidly in the small country of Bhutan and this epic photograph captures it all.

When people say they want to "grow the game," this is what they are referring to.

Earlier this week, a photograph of baseball being played in the small country of Bhutan went viral on social media, because it's absolutely epic.

Check out the Tweet from @MLBLife

The world's most remote country, Bhutan, is experiencing a baseball boom

What started as a handful of kids playing on a concrete slab has grown to more than 6,000 children who are becoming dedicated baseball fans

"It's the fastest-growing sport in the country right now," says Ramon Riesgo, executive advisor of Bhutan Baseball & Softball Association

Below is a photo of baseball being played in front of the Great Buddha Dordenma statue

There was just an article from MLB.com about how quickly baseball is growing in Bhutan. The picture comes as part of that article.

From that article:

High up in the Himalayas between Tibet and India sits the small Buddhist country of Bhutan. Sometimes known as the world's last Shangri-La, this nation of snowy alpine peaks and untouched mountain streams has fewer than 700,000 people who call it home. And yet perhaps the most remote country in the world is on its way to being a baseballing nation, growing from a few dozen kids playing on a concrete slab after school to more than 6,000 children who are fast becoming baseball fanatics despite few having ever seen a Major League game.

It's great to see baseball growing all around the world and with events like the World Baseball Classic, and baseball back in the Olympics, we could see more stories like this in the coming years.
