Cincinnati Reds Reveal 2024 Schedule, Opening Day Matchup Against Washington Nationals

In this story:
The full schedule for the 2024 MLB season has been released, and the Cincinnati Reds have added plenty of high-profile matchups to their calendar.
The Reds will open next regular season on Thursday, March 28, at home against the Washington Nationals. After taking the next day off, Cincinnati and Washington will close out the three-game set over the weekend.
Great American Ballpark will be the site for 17 of the Reds' first 26 games. Meanwhile, the Reds will close out the regular season with 14 of their final 20 contests coming on the road.
Cincinnati will round out 2024 with a two-game series at the Cleveland Guardians and a three-game series at the Chicago Cubs.
The Los Angeles Angels, Baltimore Orioles, Boston Red Sox, Detroit Tigers, Kansas City Royals, Oakland Athletics, Houston Astros and Guardians are the American League teams that will visit Cincinnati in 2024. The A's have not played at Great American since 2016.
The Reds, on the other hand, will play their road interleague games against the Chicago White Sox, Seattle Mariners, New York Yankees, Tampa Bay Rays, Toronto Blue Jays and Guardians.

Of course, the Reds still have 71 regular season games remaining in 2023, as well as a potential playoff run if they can hold onto first place in the National League Central. The Milwaukee Brewers are 1.0 game back in second, while the third-place Chicago Cubs are five games under .500 and 7.0 games back from first.
Cincinnati is sitting at 50-41, which puts the club on pace for an 89-73 campaign.
The Reds open up the second half of their 2023 season Friday at home against the Brewers. First pitch is scheduled for 7:10 p.m. ET.
