Complete Washington Nationals 2024 Schedule Released Along With Opening Day Info

The Cincinnati Reds will host the Nats to start next season, while the Los Angeles Angels and New York Yankees are among the teams coming to DC.

Major League Baseball revealed the entire 2024 slate on Thursday, and the Washington Nationals' schedule was one of the more intriguing ones to come out.

The Nationals will get the season started on March 28 at the Cincinnati Reds, then host the Pittsburgh Pirates for their home opener on April 1. Of Washington's first 18 games next spring, 12 will be on the road.

The Houston Astros, Toronto Blue Jays, Minnesota Twins and Seattle Mariners will all visit Washington, DC, before the end of May, while the Los Angeles Angels and New York Yankees are slated to stop by in August. The Nationals' final home interleague series of the year will be against the Kansas City Royals.

As for the American League road trips the Nationals have on the books, they will play at the Oakland Athletics, Texas Rangers, Cleveland Guardians, Detroit Tigers, Tampa Bay Rays and Baltimore Orioles. After four consecutive National League opponents to open the year, Washington will have a stretch where 10 of its next 15 series will be part of interleague play.

The Nationals will host the New York Mets on the Fourth of July, as well as the Philadelphia Phillies in the regular season finale.

Nationals fans couldn't be blamed for already looking ahead to 2024, considering their team went into the All-Star break at 36-54 with a -83 run differential – both second-worst in the NL. Washington has the second toughest schedule in baseball the rest of the way, according to Tankathon, meaning those numbers could get worse over the next few months.

The Nationals start the second half of their season Friday night on the road against the Cardinals at 8:15 p.m.
