The Houston Astros are now less than two months away from Opening Day.

The Astros will open the season at Minute Maid Park against the Chicago White Sox. They will then play host to the Detroit Tigers, before traveling to Minnesota and Pittsburgh for a pair of three-game series with the Twins and Pirates.

For the first time ever, the Astros will play a series against each of the other 29 Major League Baseball teams. All 30 teams will play a series against each other, for the first time in baseball history. The hope is that it will generate more fan interest, as star players from the opposite league will appear at the city's home ballpark every other year. Astros fans will get a chance to attend a World Series rematch, when the Philadelphia Phillies visit Houston at the end of April.

The schedule change will also benefit teams that play in hypercompetitive divisions. The American League West is expected to be relatively competitive in 2023, with the Astros coming off a World Series title, the Seattle Mariners coming off their first playoff trip in 21 years, and the Los Angeles Angels and Texas Rangers each having an active offseason.

The Astros are coming off their second World Series championship in franchise history. The club has not won back-to-back World Series before, but hopes to accomplish that goal in 2023.
