Conor McGregor & Dana White Imposter Tried To Scam UFC Fighter

UFC fighter exposes a scam attempt.

Scam artists recently tried to make a UFC fighter one of their victims.

Conor McGregor and UFC President Dana White are two huge names in the sport of MMA. McGregor is the UFC's biggest star, while White is the promotion's boss and public face.

Given their popularity, it's easy to see why scammers would try to impersonate them to go after fans. In this case, however, the scammers thought they could fool an athlete on the UFC roster.

UFC lightweight Terrance McKinney took to his Instagram account to put the scam attempt on full display.

"Hi I'm Conor Mcgregor, the double champ, I'm stuck in the airport and i lost my credit card. I need money or I'll miss Nunes fight. Could you send me $100 in amazon gift cards?

"There's also Dana White with me

"Hi, this is Dana. How you doing?"

Needless to say, the attempt failed. While this certainly wasn't going to work on a fighter who knows better, this type of scam has unfortunately been successful on fans who didn't know any better.

Numerous celebrities from all forms of entertainment have urged fans to never give any money to an account claiming to be them. Those messages were pushed out in droves after Twitter began removing blue checkmarks from accounts that didn't pay for Twitter Blue. The scam attempts aren't exclusive to Twitter, however, as the attempt on McKinney was sent on Instagram.
