VIDEO: Cory Sandhagen Dominates Rob Font With Control At UFC Nashville

Cory Sandhagen and Rob Font are done trading leather tonight.
The two top bantamweights shared the Octagon inside the Bridgestone Arena in Nashville, Tennessee on August 5. Font was a late replacement opponent, as Sandhagen was initially set to take on Umar Nurmagomedov. Once news broke that Umar was forced off the card due to an injury, the UFC gave a call to Font and he agreed to take the fight.

Sandhagen secured an early takedown in the opening frame. Font used a kimura for the sweep, resulting in both men returning to their feet. Sandhagen scored another takedown and thwarted a sweep attempt from his opponent.
In the second stanza, Cory Sandhagen used his grappling to maintain top control on Rob Font. The crowd became restless due to the lack of action. Sandhagen didn't let the boobirds bother him, as he remained patient and didn't allow his opponent to execute sweeps.
The third round was pretty much the same. Sandhagen had a ton of top control and was being cautious to avoid Font's bottom game with sweep attempts. Not an exciting fight, but an easy one to score for Sandhagen up to this point.
Sandhagen's wrestling continued to be a difference maker in the fourth round. It was clear at this point that he was on his way to a sweep on the scorecards. Font showed some signs of life in the last round before being dumped back down to the match yet again.
Sandhagen won the fight via unanimous decision. A dominant performance, but not one that is likely to have the UFC clamoring to book him in a title fight.
