Poirier got things started with a body kick. A left hand was there for "The Diamond." Gaethje connected with a right hand over the top. A punch right down the middle was there for Poirier.

The eye of Gaethje was bothering him early on due to the punches of Poirier. "The Diamond" bloodied up his opponent a bit above the eyebrow. At the end of the round, Gaethje threw some heavy shots that landed.

In the second stanza, Gaethje landed a leg kick. He went for a right hand that was blocked. A head kick landed for "The Highlight" and it knocked Poirier out cold.

After the fight, Gaethje told Joe Rogan that he's looking to fight the winner of the UFC lightweight title fight between Islam Makhachev and Charles Oliveira.
