UFC Star Ilia Topuria Promises 'Red Panty Night' for Conor McGregor
Ilia Topuria has built a notorious reputation with his bold statements in the leadup to his first UFC title fight with Alexander Volkanovski, and now "El Matador" is taking big shots at Conor McGregor.
It's no secret that Topuria is entertaining a Spanish PPV super fight with McGregor. The German-born Spaniard has remarked that he'd give the Irish fighter one of his statement "red panty" nights if they fought:
"Conor McGregor, that’s the fight I’m looking for," Topuria remarked on The MMA Hour. ".... If he doesn’t get his ass whooped [by Michael Chandler], he will be a pleasure to share the octagon with... Maybe in UFC Spain. We’re both from Europe, and he will be able to go back home and tell his wife, ‘Baby, take out the red panties. Topuria kept us rich."
"Red panty night" was coined by McGregor himself during the Go Big Press Conference in 2015, and the term has become synonymous with huge money fights.
Before anything can come to fruition, however, Topuria must first defeat the consensus greatest featherweight of all time in Volkanovski. McGregor must also confirm his booking in 2024, which is widely considered to be against Michael Chandler. "The Notorious" is frustrated with his treatment from the UFC, and has told them to "get this f****** date set."
