Luiz Claudio submitted himself at FMS Fight Night 2 on October 29, after cranking his own ankle when chasing a leg lock against Yabna N'Tchala:

It's not unheard of for a fighter to knock themselves out with a slam or a slip, but for a fighter to submit themselves is a much rarer occurrence.

The bizarre finish came early in the first round, as Claudio tied legs with N'Tchala, almost securing a calf-slicer position. After ending up chest-down, Claudio resorted to a leg lock, but as N'Tchala scooted out, Claudio was the victim of his own entanglement. After being unable to break free, he tapped to his own attempted submission.

N'Tchala celebrated his unconventional victory by climbing on the cage and gesturing toward the crowd with the 'Wakanda Forever' sign. "the Panther" grew to 10-1-0, now with 20% of his victories coming by injury or opponents self-inflicting their loss. Claudio on the other hand is dangerously close to having an even record, sitting at 4-3-1.

The Brazilian fighter hasn't put together a win streak since his debut in 2016, and with this embarrassing loss he should look to rebound with a dominant performance in his next outing.
