UConn's D'Amelio Collective Hosting Football Players Courtside

Husky football stars to watch basketball team, promote NIL fundraising

The UConn football program has made a lot of headlines after a disappointing season in Jim Mora's second year. The Huskies head coach recently echoed comments about the lack of NIL funding and how things must change if they want to compete in the space.

On Monday, the UConn men's basketball team faces New Hampshire at home and the founder of the D’Amelio Huskies NIL Collective - Marc D'Amelio - is hosting a handful of players courtside for the game, as he mentioned on his X account.

Victor Rosa, Ta'Quan Roberson, Cam Ross, Justin Joly, and Cam Edwards will all be at the game as part of the deal, which will promote the collective and NIL fundraising in general.

D'Amelio - a UConn alum and the father of TikTok sensations Charli and Dixie - stars with his family in the Hulu docuseries "The D’Amelio Show," which recently released its third season.

D'Amelio ran a NIL campaign where he was going to match up to $100,000 of donations and put a portion towards the football program, seemingly responding to what Mora had recently said about the program and the lack of NIL support. D'Amelio also is giving shoutouts on X to any person who donates $5,000 or more.

In just one evening, they raised $16,000 with over 130 donations, and D'Amelio is working hard as the owner of the Huskies NIL Collective to continue fundraising efforts.

UConn's football team ended the year with a 31-18 victory over UMass, and it could be a busy offseason around the program. With both the men's and women's basketball teams reigning as powerhouses, and the men coming off a national title, finding a way to restore the football program appears to be a priority.
