Gooding Pro Rodeo Champions Make World Standings Moves in NFR Race

Another major Playoffs Series rodeo came to an end over the recent weekend, as winners of the Gooding Pro Rodeo cashed in. With just weeks remaining in the season, rodeo athletes are running out of time to land in the top 15 and earn a trip to the National Finals Rodeo (NFR).

Rough Stock Recap

Bareback riders kicked things off strong as this elite group of cowboys set the bar high. The No. 7 cowboy in the world, Leighton Berry, clinched the win with 91 points on Summit Pro Rodeo's Game Trail. He earned $7,332, inching closer to surpassing Keenan Hayes in No. 6.

Saddle bronc riders have their work cut out for them, as passing any of the Wright brothers in the standings will be quite the feat. Stetson finished third, but it was the No. 14 cowboy Ben Andersen who seized the opportunity to claim a win.

Andersen scored 88 points on Summit Pro Rodeo's Cowboy Fool for the win, earning $7,558. While there might be a larger gap to close between Anderson and Gus Gaillard in No. 13, this amount of money helped him secure a seat at No. 14.

Another elite athlete stole the show in bull riding, as Hudson Bolton smashed his performance in Gooding. He pulled in a 90-point ride on Summit Pro Rodeo's Howdy Rowdy. Bolton cashed in $7,670, holding strong at No. 4.

Timed Event Turnout

Steer wrestler Eli Lord is still gunning for a spot in the top 15 as he sits on the bubble at No. 18. Hopefully, a win like his this past weekend will help him build enough momentum to close the season out strong. His run of 3.1 seconds scored him $4,942, pulling him closer to a spot in Las Vegas.

Kaleb Driggers and Junior Nogueira topped the team roping with a run of 4.1 seconds, securing $6,038 each. Driggers and Nogueira are both sitting No. 1 in the world.

Riley Webb is looking to defend his trio of world titles, and he sits at No. 1 in the world. His win in Gooding will only further secure his spot at the top. He earned the win by nearly a whole second, coming in at 7.5 seconds for $6,712.

Barrels and Breakaway

One barrel racer is working her way to the top, as Carlee Otero has earned her place at No. 2 in the world. She beat out some of rodeo's best with her run of 16.54 seconds, earning her $7,432. That amount of money could place her just a few thousand dollars away from the No. 1 spot.

An underdog found her way to the top of the breakaway roping pack in Gooding as Macy Young dominated the arena. Despite being at No. 25, she is still fighting for a chance to head to the finals, so her win here could be the first of many as the season comes to an end. Young scored the win in just 2.1 seconds, earning $7,280.

As time runs out, these big money rodeos are becoming few and far between. These winners are hopefully now taking this money to the bank and riding all the way to Las Vegas for the NFR come December.
