The Resistol Rookie of the Year is perhaps the most sought-after title for young rodeo athletes. Unlike the world champion title, this award offers only one chance at glory. After competing on their permit and earning over $1,000 in PRCA rodeos, athletes enter their first official year as professionals, becoming official PRCA Contestant Card holders. As the Resistol Rookie race intensifies, here are the current leaders:

Wacey Schalla from Arapaho, Oklahoma, leads the Resistol Rookie All-Around with winnings totaling $20,347.81. His victories include triumphs at the Las Vegas Days in Nevada and the Homestead Championship Rodeo in Florida, showcasing his skills in bareback riding and bull riding.

Weston Timberman, from Columbus, Montana, emerges as the Resistol Rookie Bareback Riding Leader, securing winnings totaling $31,590.43. He claimed victory at the Montana Pro Rodeo Circuit Finals average in Great Falls and the CINCH World’s Toughest Rodeo in Winston-Salem, North Carolina.

Zachary Dallas, representing Las Cruces, New Mexico, shines as the Resistol Rookie Saddle Bronc Riding Leader, amassing impressive earnings of $18,045.86. He clinched victory at the 152nd Silver Spurs Rodeo in Kissimmee, Florida.

Jeter Lawrence, from Council Hill, Oklahoma, emerges as the Resistol Rookie Bull Riding Leader with remarkable earnings totaling $39,473.05. He secured victory at the PRCA Championship Rodeo in Park City, Kansas, and the Rio Grande Valley Livestock Show & Rodeo Xtreme Bulls event in Mercedes, Texas.

Ty Bauerle, from Jourdanton, Texas, emerges as the Resistol Rookie Steer Wrestling Leader with impressive earnings totaling $15,831.74. His standout achievement includes a victory at the 2023 Permit Members Of the Year Challenge average in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Jesse Boos, representing White Cloud, Kansas, emerges as the Resistol Rookie Team Roping (Headers) Leader, boasting earnings of $10,230.95. He triumphed at the PRCA Permit Finals average alongside Jace Steenhoek in Waco, Texas, and the Ozark Empire Pro Rodeo with Steenhoek in Springfield, Missouri.

Wyatt Thomas, from Cedar City, Utah, emerges as the Resistol Rookie Team Roping (Heelers) Leader, boasting earnings of $11,641.67. He secured the top spot at Las Vegas Days alongside Justin Fowden in Las Vegas, Nevada, and the National Western Rodeo Qualifier with Casey Thomas in Denver, Colorado.

Bryce Derrer, representing Portales, New Mexico, emerges as the Resistol Rookie Tie-Down Roping Leader, accumulating impressive earnings of $21,870.87. His notable achievement includes securing second place in the average at the 2023 Permit Members Of the Year Challenge in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Oceane Veilleux from St-Alfred, Quebec, emerges as the Resistol Rookie Barrel Racing Leader with impressive earnings totaling $19,345.03. Her notable achievements include securing third place at both the Matagorda County Fair & Rodeo in Bay City, Texas and the Southeastern Livestock Exposition in Montgomery, Alabama.

Shiloh Napp, from Enterprise, Mississippi, shines as the Resistol Rookie Breakaway Roping Leader, with impressive earnings totaling $7,839.60. Her standout achievement includes winning the 96th Annual Arcadia All-Florida Championship Rodeo.

Catch these Rookies in action at the Resistol Rookie Roundup, hosted for the third year in a row by Resistol in partnership with The Cowboy Channel on April 26-27 at 7:30 pm (CT) in the Fort Worth Stockyards Coliseum. Sanctioned by the PRCA, the top 15 PRCA rookies in each event will compete for $100,000. The Cowboy Channel will produce and broadcast the event.
