Early in his career with the Chicago Bulls, Michael Jordan convinced an entire generation of NBA fans they could fly like him just by wearing the Air Jordan 1. Jordan cultivated a worldwide fanbase, but only the most diehard fans were part of the "Flight Club."

The Air Jordan 1 High OG "Flight Club" colorway launches at 10:00 a.m. ET on Saturday, April 11. Online shoppers can buy the retro basketball shoes exclusively on the Nike SNKRS app and at select retailers.

The Air Jordan 1 High OG "Flight Club" colorway will be released in full-family sizing: Adult ($185), Big Kid ($140), Little Kid ($85), and Toddler ($70). Fans who miss the initial drop can find the sneakers on trusted resale websites like StockX and GOAT.

The "Flight Club" colorway features a Black woven textile upper with University Red detailing. Sail laces, tongues, and midsoles add a vintage aesthetic. Lastly, the Gum Medium Brown outsole provides the foundation of the shoe.

Just like the original model, this colorway has "Nike Air" branding on the tongues and the original Air Jordan "Wings" logo on the ankle collars. While the Air Jordan 1 High is no longer considered a performance basketball shoe, it has transcended the sport to become a timeless casual sneaker.

Flight Club Inspiration

Long before the internet was widely used by the public, sneakerheads who wanted the latest Air Jordans had to join the "Flight Club." The official popular mail-in membership program that ran throughout the late 1980s and early 1990s, offering members a seasonal newsletter and collectible items.

Earlier this year, the Air Jordan 4 dropped in a "Flight Club" colorway. Despite the shoe's popularity, it never took off and remains parked on shelves across the country. Similar to the Air Jordan 4, this "Flight Club" colorway comes in special packaging. Unfortunately, it does not appear to come with any extra laces.
