Determined Chelsea Green Reveals Title Plans for After She Gains Medical Clearance

Chelsea Green may be down, but she's far from out.
The Interim WWE Women's Champion's world domination tour got off to a rocky start when she broke an orbital bone on her first official night as the top title holder on Friday Night SmackDown. A week later, she cut the promo of her career and convinced General Manager Nick Aldis to give her 30 days to get cleared for competition.
Green captured her first world championship at WWE SummerSlam when she outlasted Charlotte Flair, Jade Cargill, Tiffany Stratton and Lash Legend in a Five-Woman Ladder Match, and as she told Etalk this week, absolutely nothing was going to turn her dream career moment into a nightmare.

"I’ve been doing this for 13 years. No broken bones are ever going to keep me down," Green said. "At this point, I’ve had heart surgery, I’ve had a broken ankle, collarbone, nose, cheekbone, orbital bone, and three broken arms, and we’re good. I wake up feeling amazing every single day. Especially at this point in my career, there’s not a single thing that can happen to me that is going to keep me down, because I’ve been waiting my entire career for this moment. So, I’m ready to go. Put me in, coach. I will fight with a broken orbital bone, whatever I need to do.”
The opportunity to carry the WWE Women's Championship presented itself to Chelsea after Rhea Ripley suffered a torn meniscus earlier this summer. With her recovery timeline very unpredictable, due to the location her her injury, the creative team booked the ladder match at SummerSlam to crown an interim titleholder.
Now that she's the one carrying the gold, Green absoultely has her sights set on a potential unification match.
"Considering I am technically the interim women’s champion, and Rhea Ripley is the WWE Women’s Champion, I think we need to duke it out for a position of maybe permanent residency.”
Chelsea Green is ready for whomever comes for her title
Any potential match-up between Green and Ripley would have to be way down the line. Just days after Chelsea captured the interim championship, it was announced that Rhea underwent knee surgery, and she's expected to be out of action until early next year.
The good news, or bad news depending on how you want to look at it, is that there is no shortage of challengers waiting in line for Chelsea Green. Nia Jax seems to have jumped out in front, but as seen Friday night on SmackDown, Blake Monroe has vowed not to make her in-ring debut unless it's for an opportunity at the WWE Women's Championship.
Regardless, once her 30 days are up and the medical team gives her the green light (pun intended), Chelsea is fully prepared to jump back into the ring and defend her championship. No matter her opponent.
“I have my face mask ready to go that can protect my orbital bone. So if someone comes at me for this title, know that I am prepared. Would you expect any less from me? I bedazzled the entire thing. I’ve got eye patches ready to go as well that match my outfits, depending on what I wear.”
