Congratulations to Mesquite’s Navae Guidry for being voted SBLive’s WaFd Bank Arizona Girls Basketball Athlete of the Week for the week of Feb. 26-March 3. 

Guidry, a junior forward on the Mesquite team, stepped up with a double-double for the Wildcats with 13 points, 10 rebounds, three steals and a block in a 32-26 win over Flagstaff in a Class 4A semifinal game at Mesquite High School. She had 18 points and eight rebounds in a 59-49 loss to Salpointe Catholic in the Class 4A state championship game. 

Guidry received 73.78% of the vote, beating out Eanae Dagons, a senior on the Desert Vista team, who finished second with 23.32%. Rebekah Udall, a junior on the Mesquite team, was third with 0.63% and Shay Ijiwoye, a senior on the Desert Vista team, was fourth with 0.59%. There were nearly 7,000 votes tallied this week.
