Federal Way pitcher Tyler Hoeft voted athlete of the week

Congratulations to Federal Way High School pitcher Tyler Hoeft for being voted our Washington Federal Athlete of the Week!
Hoeft, a junior who has committed to the University of Washington, threw a no-hitter on Thursday, April 18 in a 6-0 win over Enumclaw. He struck out 11 and did not walk a batter. One Enumclaw batter reached base on an error, but was thrown out moments later stealing. "It was the best I've seen him," said Federal Way coach Arlo Evasick.
Hoeft received 37% of the vote, with Steilacoom track and field star Nadia Herring coming in second with 32%. Lakes' sprinter Dorien Simon finished third with 20%.
Here are the five other athletes who were nominated for April 15-21:
Brock Bozett, Ferris baseball: Bozett starred on the mound and at the plate in Ferris’ 6-1 victory over Shadle Park on Thursday. A senior shortstop and pitcher, Bozett struck out nine in 6 2/3 innings and added four hits, three RBI and two runs.
Olivia Grey, Woodland softball: Grey, a senior pitcher, struck out 16 in a 4-0 win over Ridgefield on Wednesday. She followed that by throwing a perfect game on Thursday in a 3-0 win over R.A. Long.
Theo Baiye, Clarkston boys soccer: Baiye scored five goals in a 13-1 win over West Valley on Thursday. The five-goal performance gave him 54 career goals, which is a Clarkston school record.
Dorien Simon, Lakes track & field: Simon, a senior, won the 100-meter dash (10.62) and the 200-meter dash (21.58) at the Eason Invitational meet on Saturday at Snohomish High School.
Nadia Herring, Steilacoom track & field: Herring, a junior, won the 200-meter dash (24.64) and the long jump (18-10) at the Eason Invitational meet on Saturday at Snohomish High School.
