Dan Dickau’s Scorebook Live Today podcast ‘Quarantine Series’: Roberto Bergersen breaks down the 1990s Tacoma-area hoop scene
High schools and high school sports across Washington are closed for the school year, but the Scorebook Live Today podcast has ramped things up.
Each weekday, analyst Dan Dickau is interviewing a new expert in their respective field. Dickau hopes to both entertain and provide students, coaches, parents perspective to understand how uniquely sports can prepare one for a wide array of things.
On Wednesday, Roberto Bergersen joins to break down the Tacoma-area hoops scene in the early 1990s and how his high school basketball coach, Ed Boyce, later changed the direction of his life. Bergersen was a standout at Decatur High School in the early 1990s and went on to have a prolific college career at Boise State. He played professionally for more than 10 years, including three stints with the Idaho Stampede of the NBA Developmental League, where his jersey was retired.
He is now the director of Hoop Dreams, a travel basketball program based out of Boise.
