SBLive’s San Diego Section Baseball Top 10: Steele Canyon and Point Loma debut

The 2022 high school baseball season is just over two weeks old in the San Diego Section and several teams appear to have their offenses in midseason form. Steele Canyon and Point Loma enter the rankings this week after combining to go 6-0 to start the year.
SBLive’s San Diego Section high school baseball rankings are compiled by SBLive California reporter Bodie DeSilva and will be released every Monday throughout the the season.

1. Granite Hills (2-0)

The Eagles opened the season with road wins at No. 8 La Costa Canyon and No. 10 Poway.

San Marcos has been crushing the ball, hitting .351 as a team through four games.

3. Rancho Bernardo (3-0)
The Broncos have won three tight games, the most recent, a 3-2 victory against Christian on Saturday.

4. St. Augustine (3-0-1)

St. Augustine has scored 51 runs in only four games so far. They'll travel to Francis Parker on Wednesday night.

5. Torrey Pines (2-0)

The Falcons two wins have included excellent starts from seniors Eric Van Valkenburg and Jack Weisenberger.

6. Madison (2-0)
Senior Gavin Lass hit a game-winning home run to push the Warhawks past Eastlake in their opener.

7. Steele Canyon (2-0)
Senior Gabe Diaz struck out 16 batters in Steele Canyon's season-opening win against Monte Vista.

8. La Costa Canyon (2-1)

La Costa Canyon bounced back from a one-run loss against No. 1 Granite Hills with back-to-back wins over Cathedral Catholic and Hilltop.

9. Point Loma (4-0)

Kien Vu and Jordan Otjen each have two home runs for the Pointers during their 4-0 start.

Sophomore Arizona State commit Addison Klepsch has six hits and two walks in the first three games of the season.
