CLOVIS, Calif. -- Track and field athletes from across the state competed in preliminary events on Friday hoping to punch a ticket to Saturday's finals. 

Gardena Serra junior sprinter Rodrick Pleasant qualified for the finals in the 100, 200 and 4x100 meters with his Serra teammates. Pleasant broke the California state 100 meter record at last week's Southern Section Masters Meet running a 10.14. He'll try to better that time on Saturday.
