The 2022 San Diego Section Open Division football championship game will be played at Snapdragon Stadium in Mission Valley on Friday, November 18th, according to the San Diego Section preseason football bulletin.

Snapdragon Stadium, which is built on the former site of Qualcomm Stadium, is scheduled to open in September when the Aztecs host Arizona in week one of the college football season.

The championships have been held at both Southwestern College and Escondido High School since leaving Qualcomm Stadium after the 2013 championships.

The location for the division 1-5 championship games have yet to be announced, though with the Aztecs scheduled to host Air Force on November 26th it would appear unlikely that Snapdragon Stadium would be able to host high school championship games on the same weekend.

High school football will begin in the San Diego Section later this week with teams allowed to start practicing on Saturday, July 30th. The first week of games is slated for August 19th.
