Watch: CIF State Track and Field girls 100 trials — Carson's Reign Redmond goes 11.47

Watch all four heats as Oaks Christian's Niya Clayton, Serra's Mia Flowers and St. Ignatius' Ellie McCuskey-Hay join Redmond as heat winners

There's no more exciting race than the 100-meter dash. Especially when only the winner is guaranteed a spot in the finals.

SBLive photographer Joe Bergman took video (see above) of all four girls 100 finals at Friday's CIF State Track and Field trials at Veteran's Stadium on the campus of Buchanan High School in Clovis.

The races were sensational, the best of the bunch was Heat 3, where Carson's Reign Redmond caught Serra's Brazil Neal in the final 10 meters to record the day's fastest time in 11.47. Neal was just behind at 11.53. Neal is the defending state champion and Neal the defending state 200 champ.

Other heat winners were Niya Clayton, of Oaks Christian, in 11.52, Serra's Mia Flowers (11.73) and the surprise of the day, St. Ignatius freshman Ellie McCuskey-Hay from lane 7 in heat 2 at 11.81.

Redmond's winning time was just off her season best of 11.45.

Others who moved onto the finals were Edison-Stockton's Shanye Harris (11.77), Carson's TaAhjah Fann (11.82) and Christina Gray (11.87) and Madison-San Diego's Amirah Shaheed (11.87).
