Trevor Rogers showed his athletic prowess at the CIF State Track and Field championships last month, placing fourth in the long jump with a school record mark of 23 feet, 4 inches.

As first reported by Brandon Huffman of 247Sports, the incoming senior from Acalanes-Lafayette didn't take a big leap Wednesday by committing to Cal, a school only about 10 miles from home, down Interstate 24 and through the Caldecott Tunnel.

But the 6-foot-3, 200-pound receiver figures to do big things for the Bears, which would continue to his fast rise to the elite of California recruits from the Class of 2024.

Rogers, who can also play safety, has climbed to the No. 117 recruit in the Golden State overall, according to 247Sports, after barely dotting the radar after his sophomore season.

But Rogers got in the weight room and had a banner 2022 season with 58 catches for 1,120 yards and 15 touchdowns for the Dons, who finished 10-2. As a sophomore, Rogers showed great promise with 23 catches for 452 yards and five touchdowns.

Beyond his leaping ability he showed in track, he also showed off his speed, as he ran a leg on Acalanes' second-place 400-meter relay team that finished in a school record 40.96 seconds.

All of it led to offers from not only Cal, but 14 other schools, including Fresno State, Washington State, San Diego State, a pair of Ivy League schools along with Georgetown and Massachusetts.

"The biggest reason I picked Cal was it's close to home so my family can watch every home game," Rogers told Huffman.

There's a long line of players from Lamorinda — the communities of Lafayette, Moraga and Orinda — who either walked on or signed at Cal. Many Cal alums live in the region.

Rogers was offered a scholarship from the Bears after a 7on7 tournament held on campus earlier this month.

"I knew it was the place for me," Rogers told Huffman. "Playing in that stadium just felt right."

Mosley joins Brown at Stanford: Another four-star track athlete and wide receiver Emmett Mosley, of Santa Margarita, will join four-star quarterback Elijah Brown at Stanford.

Mosley, a 6-foot, 175-pounder, is the 24th-ranked senior recruit in the state, according to 247 Sports. He made his commitment Wednesday, less than a week after Brown made his commitment to the Cardinal.

The speedy receiver had visited UCLA on May 12 and Stanford on June 2 before announcing his decision. His dad Emmett Mosley played running back at Notre Dame in the 1990s at the same time his mother played soccer for the Fighting Irish. She also played on the national team.

He had 78 catches for 930 yards and 10 touchdowns last season but, like Rogers, showed excellent promise on defense.

"I had a great visit and really loved it there," Mosley told Greg Biggins at 247Sports. "I knew right away it was home. ... I already knew about the great academics but learning more about the football program and the history there was big."

It's been a big June for Stanford which has piled up five Top 100 California recruit commitments (see list below).

Wide receivers, athletes aplenty in Cali: With his all-around skills, some consider Rogers more of an athlete than a receiver. The two designations dominate California's Top 200 recruits from the Class of 2024.

Athletes make up 35 of the athletes in 247's Top 200 football recruits in the class, while wide receiver is tied with defensive backs (which is safeties and cornerbacks combined) with 31.

The other positions from the Golden State are offensive linemen (28), linebackers (24), quarterbacks (15), running backs (14), defensive linemen (11), tight ends (six) and edge rushers (five).
