Five Southern California basketball teams, 2 state champions on display at Hoophall Classic

Carter Bryant and Trent Perry are top California players that help headline the 2024 Hoophall Classic

SPRINGFIELD, MASSACHUSETTS - California’s best high school basketball programs will be on display at Springfield College in the Hoophall Classic in Springfield, Mass. — better known as The Birthplace of basketball.

The Harvard-Westlake, Corona Centennial and Mater Dei boys, along with the Etiwanda and Mater Dei girls teams will make the 3,000-mile trek to play in what many regard as the most prestigious high school basketball event in the last 20-plus years.

Harvard-Westlake is California’s defending Open Division state champion; Centennial is the CIF Southern Section’s defending Open Division champion; and Etiwanda is the defending CIF State Open Division champion for the girls.

Kevin Durant, Zion Williamson, Lonzo Ball and Jayson Tatum are just a few names on a long list of talented prep stars that went on to play in the NBA. The ladies have had impressive representation, too, including Breanna Stewart and most recently, Juju Watkins.

The event runs from Jan. 11-15 and the last two days of games can be watched on ESPNU.
