With the 2022 Florida High School Athletic Association (FHSAA) baseball playoffs starting this week, we’re taking a look at the top players to watch, class by class.

From Ryan McPherson to Schuyler Sandford, there are several talented sophomores competing in the FHSAA baseball playoffs.

Here’s an inside look at the Top 20 sophomores:

TOP 20 SOPHOMORES IN FLORIDA BASEBALL PLAYOFFS

1. Ryan McPherson, RHP/2B (North Broward Prep)

McPherson recorded a 1.25 earned run average in nine pitching appearances this season for the Eagles. North Broward Prep will host Coral Springs Charter in the regional quarterfinals on Wednesday night.

2. Tyler Head, OF (Windermere)

Head recorded a .452 on-base percentage and scored a team-high 30 runs during the regular season for the Wolverines. Head is a NC State commit.

3. Noah Miller, INF (North Florida Christian)

Miller led the state of Florida among sophomores hitting six home runs during the regular season for the Eagles.

4. Devin Fitz-Gerald, SS (Stoneman Douglas)

Fitz-Gerald recorded a .364 batting average during the regular season for the Eagles. Stoneman Douglas finished No. 1 in the SBLive Florida baseball power rankings this season.

5. Noah Sheffield, INF (Tampa Prep)

Sheffield recorded a .511 on-base percentage in 24 regular season games for the Terrapins.

6. Thomas Bly, INF (Sickles)

The Louisville verbal commit comes into the postseason, with a .484 on-base percentage for the Gryphons. Sickles will host Lennard in the regional quarterfinals Tuesday night.

7. Maddix Goldsberry-Simpson, INF (Bishop Verot)

Goldsberry-Simpson had a .458 batting average in 26 regular season games played for the Vikings. Bishop Verot travels to Tampa Prep in the regional quarterfinals on Wednesday night.

8. Jake Turer, INF (Wharton)

Turer scored 17 runs and had a .386 on-base percentage during the regular season for the Wildcats.

9. Noah Hayes, Catcher (Buchholz- Gainesville)

Hayes recorded a .438 on-base percentage in 25 regular season games for the Bobcats.

10. Riley Luft, UTIL (North Broward Prep)

Luft recorded 33 strikeouts in 12 relief appearances this season for the Eagles. Luft also has a .455 on-base percentage in 27 games played this season.

11. McCall Biemiller, Pitcher (Jesuit- Tampa)

Biemiller has a .194 opponents’ batting average in seven appearances this season for the Tigers. Biemiller just committed to East Carolina over the weekend.

12. Brayden Toro, INF (Lake Howell)

Toro hit for a .351 batting average and had a team-best eight doubles during the regular season for the Hawks.

13. Brock Clayton, UTIL (Gulf Breeze)

Clayton had a .413 batting average in 20 games played this season for the Dolphins. Gulf Breeze will host Pine Forest in the regional quarterfinals Tuesday night.

14. Camdon Frier, OF (Suwannee)

Frier had a .329 batting average in 25 games played this season for the Bulldogs.

15. Hunter Carns, Catcher (First Coast)

Carns recorded a .612 on-base percentage in 22 games played for the Buccaneers this season. First Coast will travel to Tate High School in the regional quarterfinals Tuesday night.

16. Blaine Rowland, OF/RHP (Durant)

Rowland had a 0.78 earned run average in six relief appearances during the regular season for the Cougars.

17. Chase Mobley, RHP/OF (Plant City)

Mobley struck out 62 batters and had a .181 opponents’ batting average in 41 1/3 innings this season for the Raiders.

18. Anthony Tralongo, SS (American Heritage-Delray)

Tralongo had a .431 on-base percentage in 17 games played during the regular season for the Stallions.

19. Ethan Puig, INF (Gulliver Prep)

Puig recorded a .475 on-base percentage in 25 games played for the Raiders. Gulliver Prep will travel to Monsignor Pace in the regional quarterfinals on Wednesday night.

20. Schuyler Sandford, RHP (Bartram Trail)

Sandford pitched to a 2.39 earned run average in 29 1/3 innings during the regular season for the Bears. Sandford is verbally committed to Florida State University.
