The Northeast Florida Region is rich in baseball talent throughout the region between counties like Baker, Duval, Clay, Nassau and St. John’s. Of all the counties, there's no shortage of talent across the board.

Having so many quality players to pick from has become a challenge, because so many of these student athletes are worthy of recognition.

At SBLive Sports Florida, we aim to include as many deserving players as possible. Coaches are encouraged to pass along candidates to my Twitter handle @Andy_Villamarzo.

Davion Dean, Baker County: The sophomore drove in all three of the Wildcats’ runs in a 3-2 win over Arnold last week. Baker County is now in the region finals.

Kyle Boylston, St. John’s Country Day: What proved to be the difference was the bat of the Spartans’ outfielder. Boylston belted a 3-run homer in St. John’s Country Day’s 5-2 win over University.

Easton McMahan, Clay: Needing a strong performance on the mound, McMahan delivered. The pitcher went five innings, allowed one earned run on five hits in a 5-3 win over Ridgeview.

Jack Newman, Bishop Kenny: There’s a new favorite in Class 4A as Bishop Kenny knocked off South Walton. Newman pitched a complete game, allowed just two hits and fanned seven in a 3-1 win.

Liam O’Neil, Providence School: One swing of the bat lifted the Stallions past Wolfson last week. O’Neil’s 3-run homer gave Providence School a 4-1 win, sending them to the region finals.

Austin Pickett, University: Pickett pitched four strong innings, allowed just one hit, no runs and fanned four in a 4-0 win over St. Joseph’s Academy.

Gavin Billingsley, Fleming Island: In a 6-5 loss to Mosley, Billingsley still was able to standout. The senior shortstop notched three hits and drove in two runs for the Golden Eagles.
