Jesuit’s Willy Suarez wins Guy Toph Award

When it comes to the best football player out of Hillsborough County, the college football’s Heisman Trophy Award equivalent is the Guy Toph Award.
The award is handed to the top player from the previous season in all of the 813. On Tuesday night, a winner was announced.
Jesuit senior wide receiver Willy Suarez was named the 2023 Guy Toph Award winner, becoming the fifth Tiger to win the prestigious honor.

The last time a Jesuit player was named the Guy Toph Award winner was back in 2017 when running back Malik Davis won the honor. It’s an offensive player once again taking home the award after a stellar 2023 campaign.
Suarez hauled in 65 passes for 1,232 yards and scored 13 touchdowns. He also played a role in the backfield, carrying the rock 31 times for 211 yards and five scores.
The senior was previously an Army commitment, but decommitted recently to reopen his recruitment. Suarez has since received overtures from schools like Bucknell, Furman, Liberty and Florida State.
