Mike Matthews, 5-star wide receiver, commits to Tennessee over Clemson, Georgia and USC
LILBURN, GEORGIA- One of the most highly anticipated announcements came on Wednesday evening in Parkview wide receiver Mike Matthews.
Matthews earlier in the week narrowed his final four to Clemson, Georgia, Tennessee and USC. The star wide receiver decided to make the last school he made an official visit to was his selection.
Parkview (Georgia) senior wide receiver Mike Matthews announced via a YouTube event with On3 that he is heading just north and committing to the Tennessee Volunteers. The fleet-footed wide receiver is a 5-star rated Class of 2024 prospect according to 247Sports and chose the Volunteers over Clemson, Georgia and USC.
Matthews is coming off a strong season for the Panthers as a two-way player for the 8-4 club. The Volunteer commitment in 2022 hauled in 48 passes for 1,031 yards and nine touchdowns and flipping over to defense, he made 23 tackles and picked off two passes. As a sophomore, Matthews broke out and caught 48 passes for 764 yards and seven touchdowns.
