Cook (Georgia) plans to continue fight to reverse GHSA punishments

If at first you don't succeed, try, try again.
That's the approach Cook High School is going to take when it comes to reversing the Georgia High School Association's (GHSA) decision last week to strip the Hornets of all five of their wins this season.
According to a report by the local Adel News-Tribune, school leaders at Cook are considering options to have the GHSA's decision somehow reversed, including legal action against Georgia's governing body for high school sports.
Cook has appealed the decision, with the GHSA denying the appeal.
Per the report, the county superintendent of schools Tim Dixon couldn't comment much on the matter of the victories being stripped due to possible litigation. Dixon did confirm in the report by the News-Tribune that it was Fitzgerald High School, this upcoming Friday's opponent, that filed the complaint with the GHSA on Oct. 18th.
Before the wins were stripped, the Hornets were 5-2 on the season. Cook is coming off a 27-7 win over Dodge County. Now the Hornets will welcome into town their rivals, the Purple Hurricanes (6-2), the very school that turned in Cook for the violation of a 'player following a coach' rule.
Cook (Georgia) forced to forfeit five wins due to use of ineligible player
SBLive Georgia broke the news last week of Cook having its wins removed due to use of an ineligible player. As of today, Cook is 1-7 on the season with games against Fitzgerald and Worth County remaining on the schedule. On the line the final two games is an 22-year streak of reaching the postseason for the Hornets.
Cook was on track to make the postseason in AA, Region 1 but dropped to then 0-7 on the season last week. The Hornets had wins over Pelham, Jeff Davis, Sumter County, Brooks County and Berrien before the ruling was sent down.
