Look: Montverde Academy girls basketball celebrates GEICO Nationals championship victory over New Hope

It's the first national championship for Montverde girls basketball

FORT MYERS, Fla.  - Fernanda Ovalle scored 21 points to lead Montverde Academy to a 61-57 victory over New Hope Academy in the GEICO Nationals girls basketball championship game on Saturday. 

It's the first national championship for the Montverde Academy girls basketball program.

Ovalle, a Xavier commit, was 8-of-13 from the field and added 3 steals, 3 rebounds and 2 blocks. Mjracle Sheppard added 16 points and 6 rebounds.

Kennedy Fauntleroy led New Hope Academy with 18 points, 5 assists, 5 rebounds and 5 steals. Jalyn Brown added 14 points and 4 steals.
