Her 43-point outing against Blacklick Valley to push herself past the 2,000-career-point threshold

Jenna Muha, Shade High School (Pennsylvania) standout, was voted SBLive's National Girls Basketball Player of the Week for Jan. 23-29 by fans and readers.

Muha's 43-point scoring night helped Shade beat Blacklick Valley at home on Jan. 26, and also pushed her over the 2,000-point career scoring mark — a feat only accomplished three times previously in her native Somerset County.

She netted 1,090 votes, 80.2 percent of the total count to run away with the weekly honor. Chiawana (Washington) standout big Malia Ruud had finished in second with 12.5 percent of the total count.

SBLive's High School Girls Basketball Player of the Week candidates

Amani Abuhatab, West Haven (Connecticut)

Abuhatab recorded 20 points and 21 rebounds in a 43-39 victory over Sheehan.

Jerzy Bittle, Marion (Illinois)

Bittle poured in 32 points as Marion defeated Centralia, 50-35. In her next outing, the senior scored 36 more in a 61-29 win over Meridian to break the school’s all-time scoring record.

Zoe Brooks, St. John Vianney (New Jersey)

Brooks had 32 points, seven steals and six rebounds in a 71-34 victory over Holmdel. The five-star NC State signee was also named a McDonald’s All-American last week.

Ellie Butler, Livingston Academy (Tennessee)

Butler netted 18 of her game-high 36 points in the fourth quarter as Livingston Academy took down DeKalb, 70-53. The sophomore standout is averaging 19.1 points and 5.1 rebounds this season.

Hanelie Cadet, Avon (Massachusetts)

Cadet, a sophomore, led the way with 31 points as Avon downed Randolph, 63-20.

Aaliyah Chavez, Monterey (Texas)

One game after scoring 45 points in a victory over Cooper, Chavez nearly recorded a quadruple-double in a 79-25 thumping of Abilene. Chavez, a five-star sophomore point guard, piled up 24 points, eight rebounds, eight assists and eight steals against the Eagles.

Brihanna Crittendon, Riverdale Ridge (Colorado)

Only a freshman, Crittendon had 42 points, 15 rebounds, four assists, four blocks and two steals in a 69-41 win over Severance. Crittendon is averaging 31.8 points and 9.3 rebounds this season.

Ally Hollifield, Shelby (North Carolina)

Hollifield filled up the stat sheet with 31 points, six rebounds and seven assists in a 61-51 win over Ashbrook. The Gardner-Webb signee is averaging 24.3 points, 9.4 rebounds and 5.4 assists this year.

Nicole Melious, Wagner (New York)

Melious is closing in on 3,000 career points after scoring 33 in a 59-48 win over Francis Lewis. The senior guard is the nation’s leading scorer at 43.6 points per game.

Jenna Muha, Shade (Pennsylvania)

Muha became the fourth girls basketball player from Somerset County to amass 2,000 career points in a 58-54 victory over Blacklick Valley. The senior had 43 points in the win.

Devyn Quigley, Manchester Township (New Jersey)

Quigley was dominant in Manchester Township’s 56-40 win over Lacy, finishing with 40 points and seven rebounds.

Gabby Kay Robinson, Corona Centennial (California)

Robinson buried a school-record 12 3-pointers and finished with 48 points in a 90-49 victory over Norco.

Malia Ruud, Chiawana (Washington)

The 6-foot-2 sophomore post had 29 points in a 59-48 win over Walla Walla.

Taliah Scott, St. Johns Country Day (Florida)

Scott, who is averaging 37.3 points per game, had 40 points and 11 rebounds in a 70-29 victory over Andrew Jackson.

Juju Watkins, Sierra Canyon (California)

Watkins scored a career-high 45 points — a new single-game record at Sierra Canyon — to go along with 16 rebounds and eight assists in a 93-49 win over Bishop Alemany. The five-star USC signee was named a McDonald’s All-American last week.
