BOISE - Avery Howell had 10 rebounds and 23 rebounds, but it was her steal and three-point play near the end of regulation that vaulted fifth-ranked Boise past Class 5A favorite and top-ranked Timberline, 44-36, in overtime Friday night at Capital High School.

Howell stole the inbounds pass from Northern Arizona University signee Sophie Glancey for the contested layin and foul. She then calmly sank the ensuing free throw to tie the game up at 36-36 with 54.7 seconds to go.

Ava Oakland scored the first four points for the Brave in the extra session, and Boise was well on its way to its first district crown in nearly two decades.
