Photos: Boise holds off big Rocky Mountain rally to repeat as Class 5A girls basketball champion
Avery Howell has 24 points and 12 rebounds to lead Brave to another district crown, and likely a No. 4 or No. 5 seed in the state-tournament bracket
BOISE, Idaho - Behind Avery Howell, Boise High School got the score-separating 13-0 run to close the first half it needed.
After that, the Brave had to hold on to repeat as Class 5A District 3 girls basketball champions.
Leading by a double-digit margin much of the second half, Boise saw its lead trimmed to 43-41 on Brielle Magnuson's basket for the Grizzlies, who held the Brave to one fourth-quarter field goal.
But Boise's defense tightened, and Howell made two crucial free throws with less than a minute to go to seal the deal.
Howell recorded her 15th double-double of the season - 24 points and 12 rebounds
