Top 10 Idaho high school football rankings (9/13/2023)

Each week, SBLive Idaho will update its all-classification top-10 high school football rankings.
Here is the Week 4 list compiled by SBLive Idaho correspondent Brandon Walton:
---
1. EAGLE (3-0)
Last week: Beat No. 4 Rocky Mountain, 7-3.
This week: Travels to Owyhee at 7 p.m. Friday.
Mustangs still found a way to win despite being held under 10 points for just the 13th time over the past 19 years. They snapped a seven-game series losing streak for the first 3-0 since 2019. This will be just the second ever meeting against Owyhee.
---
2. HIGHLAND (2-0)
Last week: Beat Century, 58-3.
This week: Travels to No. 8 Pocatello in "Black and Blue Bowl" at 7 p.m. Friday.
Rams defeated the Diamondbacks for the 15th consecutive year to move to 3-0 for the first time since 2018. They’ll now look to make it another clean sweep of the Pocatello-area high schools in a series they’ve owned since 2011.
---
3. MOUNTAIN VIEW (2-1)
Last week: Lost to Owyhee, 24-17.
This week: Travels to Borah at 7 p.m. Friday.
Mavericks will look to rebound after a stunning loss Thursday in a game where they were outgained (288-251) and committed 12 penalties for 154 yards. Mountain View has only lost once to Borah over the past decade.
---
4. ROCKY MOUNTAIN (2-2)
Last week: Lost to No. 1 Eagle, 7-3.
This week: Bye.
Grizzlies are still trying to figure themselves out on offense. They used three different quarterbacks alone last week. But that was only good enough for a little more than 200 yards of total offense. The break comes at a good time.
---
5. SKYLINE (2-1)
Last week: Beat Thunder Ridge, 34-20.
This week: Travels to Hillcrest at 7 p.m. Friday.
Grizzlies returned to form as father once again got the better of the son in the dubbed “Berger Bowl.” They did so while breaking in a new signal caller in Alex Dennert, who threw four touchdown passes. Skyline has won four in a row against Hillcrest.
---
6. MERIDIAN (1-2)
Last week: Beat Middleton, 23-20.
This week: Hosts Timberline at 7 p.m. Thursday.
It wasn’t pretty, but the Warriors avoided going 0-3 for the first time in a decade by edging Middleton. Meridian will now try to get back to .500 against Timberline, which it has dominated the past two years by a combined score of 108-13.
---
7. COEUR D’ALENE (2-1)
Last week: Bye.
This week: Hosts Lakeland at 7 p.m. Friday.
Vikings return to action after a pretty impressive three-week stretch that saw wins over two-time reigning state champion Rigby and Class 4A power Sandpoint. Next up is Lakeland, which has yet to lose to a team from Idaho this season.
---
8. POCATELLO (2-0)
Last week: Beat Twin Falls, 20-7.
This week: Hosts No. 2 Highland in "Black and Blue Bowl" at 7 p.m. Friday.
Thunder knocked off a top-five team last week - and can make an even bigger statement this week trying to defeat Highland for the first time since 2010. Pocatello came close last season (14-7 loss) - can it finish the job this time around?
---
9. BISHOP KELLY (3-0)
Last week: Beat Ridgevue, 47-6.
This week: Hosts Lake City at 1 p.m. Saturday.
Knights opened 4A SIC play in impressive fashion. They’ve now won 12 consecutive games against league opponents. Bishop Kelly will look to extend another streak, too - it has beaten six consecutive Class 5A foes over the past two years.
---
10. SUGAR-SALEM (4-0)
Last week: Beat Star Valley (WY), 31-14.
This week: Bye.
Diggers get a well-deserved week off after extending their state-leading winning streak to 15 games, thanks to Carson Harris’ 131 yards and two touchdowns on the ground. It’s the third time over the past four seasons they’ve started 4-0.
