Wheeler scores 16 points to lead Giants in regional title game win

INDIANAPOLIS – The Ben Davis girls basketball started strong and rolled to an impressive 53-28 victory over Mt. Vernon in the Class 4A Regional 6 championship game Saturday at Decatur Central.

The No. 23 team in the SBLive Indiana Power 25 girls basketball rankings, Ben Davis (18-9) led 12-6 after one quarter, 26-10 at halftime and 47-16 after three quarters.

The Giants got 16 points, seven rebounds and four steals from Zoe Wheeler, 14 points and eight rebounds from Taylor Guess and 13 points from Kaleah Toomer. Cristen Carter grabbed a team-high 10 rebounds.

Mt. Vernon finished its season at 19-7.
