Two kings reigned supreme, while a new one finally claimed a state duals championship on Saturday night in Coralville from the Xtream Arena at the Iowa State Dual Tournament.

Waverly-Shell Rock in Class 3A and Don Bosco in 1A each won their third consecutive titles, while Osage finally earned the 2A crown. Twenty-four teams comprised the three-class event, which took place over two days.

In the 3A final, the Go-Hawks once again triumphed over perennial rival Southeast Polk, pulling out a 36-33 decision. The two, along with Bettendorf, will be fighting it out next weekend for the traditional team championship at state.

Block started the dual with the Rams off by earning a third period fall over Trevor Oberbroeckling. From there, Bas Diaz followed with a pin, Bibler earned a technical fall and Danny Diaz it made it 20-0 Waverly-Shell Rock with a decision.

Southeast Polk finally got on the board with a fall in 58 seconds by Brent Slade, while Holden Hansen followed with a major decision. Hagarty, Caden Wetherell and Walker scored their wins, Carter Pearson earned a fall for the Rams and Ryker Graff finished off the night with a 3-2 decision at 113 pounds.

Don Bosco showed why they are the top 1A team in the state, dominating Hinton and Nashua-Plainfield before topping Wilton, 36-25. Myles McMahon, Kaiden Knaack, Kyler Knaack, Andrew Kimball, Jacob Thiry, Landon Fernandez, Jared Thiry and Mack Ortner were all winners, as the Dons claimed eight of the first nine matches.

Wilton’s Kaden Shirk, Mason Shirk, Austin Etzel, Gabriel Brisker, Brody Brisker and Jordan Dusenberry earned wins.
