Top stars, best performances in Iowa high school boys basketball (Jan. 30-Feb. 4)

Here are some stars from the past week's high school boys basketball games across Iowa.

Carver Blietz-Bentien, MFL MarMac
The junior had a double-double with 25 points and 15 rebounds in the Bulldogs’ 72-49 win over Clayton Ridge. Seven of his rebounds were on the offensive glass.
Caden Wilkins, Bettendorf
The junior rang up 34 points to go along with six rebounds as the Bulldogs topped Davenport Central 73-61. Wilkins made 4 of 8 3-point shots.
Jack Scrivner, Central Decatur
Scriver recorded a double-double with 20 points and 14 rebounds, leading Central Decatur to its 15th win of the season, 67-41 over Wayne.
Andrew Austin, Central Lyon
Central Lyon has bounced back from its first loss by getting two easy wins. Austin scored 24 points and grabbed 12 rebounds in an 86-53 victory over Sioux Center.
Trovary Cavil, Des Moines Lincoln
The junior registered 27 points and 10 rebounds in the Railsplitters’ 76-70 win over Waterloo East. Cavil was 14-for-14 from the free throw line.
Gage Hanes, Moravia
The senior finished with 19 points, nine rebounds, six assists and three steals as the Mohawks beat Mormon Trail 75-40 in the Bluegrass Conference tournament championship game.
Traijan Sain, Cedar Rapids Washington
Sain, a senior, had 24 points, six rebounds and two assists as Washington clipped Linn-Mar 60-58.
Jack Cooley, Clarke
The junior double-doubled with 22 points and 12 rebounds as the Indians defeated Cardinal 75-53. Cooley also dished out six assists and blocked three shots.
Mason Crouse, East Mills
Crouse tallied 24 points, eight rebounds and four assists as the Eagles rolled past Griswold 77-27 in their final regular season home game of the season. Crouse made 8 of 12 shots and was perfect in six free throw attempts.
Ethan Patterson, Washington
The senior exploded for 40 points in the Demons’ 75-53 victory over Mid-Prairie. Patterson rained in nine 3-pointers in 14 attempts and handed out four assists.
Daniel Tobiloba, Grand View Christian
The 7-foot Tobiloba, who has commited to Kennesaw State University, had 14 points, 14 rebounds and two blocks as the unbeaten Thunder stopped a 16-win AHSTW squad, 70-46.
Evan Kearney, Iowa Valley
Kearney charted a double-double with 27 points and 11 rebounds in the Trojans’ 64-46 win over Belle Plaine. The senior grabbed eight offensive rebounds and added four steals.
Conner Gehling, Holy Trinity Catholic
Gehling, a sophomore, had a strong all-around performance in the Crusaders’ 60-34 win over Central Lee. Gehling finished with 14 points, 13 rebounds, eight assists, five steals and four blocked shots.
Cole McDermott, Cascade
The senior had a double-double, scoring 16 points to go along with 11 rebounds, in the Cougars’ 69-38 victory over Anamosa. McDermott grabbed six offensive boards.
Garrett Hempen, Aplington-Parkersburg
Hempen contributed 23 points, eight rebounds, three steals and three assists as the one-loss Falcons stayed unbeaten in the North Iowa Cedar-Central standings with an 81-75 win over Hudson.
TreVon Coney, Davenport North
The junior tossed in 27 points on 11 of 15 shooting, leading the Wildcats to their third straight win, 83-52 over Clinton. Coney tacked on three assists.
Jaime Grossoehme, Webster City
The senior had 24 points and six rebounds as the Lynx improved to 14-1 with a 59-55 victory over Hampton-Dumont.
Ty Pflughaupt, North Linn
Pflughaupt scored 23 points as the Class 1A second-ranked Lynx came from behind to beat sixth-ranked Dunkerton 60-46. Pflughaupt hit five 3-pointers, helping the Lynx hand Dunkerton its first loss.
Caden Kirkman, Wilton
Kirkman, an Augustana (S.D.) recruit, finished with 29 points, 10 rebounds, seven steals and three assists in the Beavers’ 61-56 triumph over West Liberty.
Carter Boettcher, Sioux Central
The senior tallied 30 points, nine rebounds and three assists as the undefeated Rebels topped Estherville-Lincoln Central 60-51. Owen Larson of E-LC, the state’s leading scorer, had 33 points.
Carter Sievers, Newell-Fonda
The senior threw in 29 points, making 11 of 16 field goals, in the Mustangs’ 88-50 win over Cherokee. Sievers ranks second in the state with a 28.6 points per game average.
Payton Hagans, Mount Pleasant
Southeast Conference leader Mount Pleasant downed Burlington 67-57, with Hagans contributing 20 points, nine rebounds, four assists and two steals.
Pryce Sandfort, Waukee Northwest
Sandfort, a University of Iowa recruit, had 34 points and seven rebounds for the Wolves in an 87-49 victory over Sioux City West. The senior splashed seven 3-pointers in 13 attempts.
Doug Taylor, Mason City Newman
Taylor, who will play baseball at the University of Iowa, hit for a double-double with 35 points and 16 rebounds in an 84-53 win over Central Springs. Taylor added four assists and four blocked shots.
Jack Miller, Jesup
Miller, a junior who recently surpassed 1,000 points for his career, had a double-double of 16 points and 10 rebounds in the J-Hawks' 68-53 victory over Union.
