Check out SBLive's custom rankings formula for every classification of Louisiana football

With the Louisiana high school football season in full swing, SBLive Sports has released its 2023 Louisiana high school football computer rankings for every classification.

We will continue to release our computer rankings weekly for the duration of the season.

Airline leads a multitude of 5-0 teams in this week's Class 5A rankings, though No. 7 Ruston is also technically 5-0 since its lone defeat, to Warren Easton, ended up later being forfeited by the Eagles.

A defending state champion, St. Thomas More, tops this week's 4A rankings. In 3A, there are four 5-0 teams, with Jena taking over the No. 1 position. Calvary Baptist, fresh off a big win against 4A school Westgate, leads the 2A rankings, while Haynesville is this week's No. 1 in 1A.

SBLive's formula was created using its own linear algebra-based ranking algorithminspired by the Colley Bias-Free Ranking Method. Colley’s Method was created by Wes Colley, Ph.D., an astrophysicist at the University of Alabama at Huntsville. He devised his algorithm to help address the subjectivity and controversy regarding BCS college football selections in the 1990s and early 2000s, using a method that used no subjective variables.
